LED Rosacea Phototherapy Treatment

Rosacea is a very common red, acne-like benign skin condition that affects many people worldwide. Rosacea typically begins as redness on the central face across the cheeks, nose or forehead, but can also less commonly affect the neck, chest, ears and scalp. Unlike common acne, rosacea most often occurs in adults aged 30 to 50, especially in those with fair skin. There are usually no blackheads or whiteheads in rosacea.

LED Phototherapy offers an exciting, safe, painless & effective option for treating rosacea. It can be used as a stand-alone therapy or in combination with other medications used to treat the condition.

The treatment involves using LED Red Light (633nm) at a certain intensity which causes a mild inflammation and sets up an immune response that helps to regenerate cells. This helps to rejuvenate skin and helps with skin healing.

Treatment usually involves 2 sessions a week for a period of 4 weeks initially. Subsequent treatments are dependent on individual needs. Treatment sessions need to be separated by 2-3 days.

The treatment has no side effects and requires no recovery period.

Our clinic uses a Healite 2 LED system which is TGA approved.

Red light therapy is also used to treat ageing, hyper-pigmentation and sun damage. The red light reaches deep skin layers and stimulates collagen fibre cell growth, improving cell metabolism and making the skin more elastic and smooth.
